Michal Kubo
Projects Coordinator
What this (really) means?
Making sure that project deliverables and deadlines are always met. This also includes participating in the preparation and implementation of project proposals. Keeping all our events professionally organized on time, to offer a great experience to our speakers and invitees. A keen eye for details, numbers and dates to ensure that all work runs smoothly and that he is on alert in general.
Background
My decade of experience in managing public health projects on the national and European level. Through capacity building and supporting, the social determinants of health projects will be put to the service of cancer patients working on research, aiming to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment.
What do I consider as my most significant achievements? The building up of a program that started as an ambitious NGO project and has become an official part of national public health policy in Slovakia. The program currently employs 344 people, has a proven track record of helping 70,000 people a year, and is financially sustainable until 2029. In addition, it is currently considered as a grass roots best practice by EC stakeholders. As another landmark of my long-term efforts, I have systematically trained more than 300 people to work in public health, backed by data and research.
After graduating from Comenius University in Bratislava with an MSc in Social Sciences, I expanded my knowledge with a second business and leadership-oriented postgraduate degree (MBA) at University of New York in Prague.
Why Cancer?
In my career, I have always looked for opportunities where I could find purpose and deeper meaning. Working in the field of cancer research project management, aiming to offer innovative treatments and support to cancer patients has this deeper meaning for me. I am proud to be a part of the team with cutting-edge research projects and with the goal of transforming cancer treatment and care.
