Many new cancer medicines have been developed that can improve patients’ outcomes. However, access to these agents usually takes longer in Europe than in the United States (US), and varies greatly across EU countries.

Therefore, the Cancer Drug Development Forum will hold a live webinar, Patient Access to Newly Registered Anticancer Agents on Wednesday 9 December 2020 from 18:30 to 19:30 (CET) / 12:30 to 13:30 (EST) / 9:30 to 10:30 (PST). This live webinar comprises a 25-minute lecture given by Prof. Carin Uyl-de Groot (Erasmus University Rotterdam) followed by Prof. Francesco de Lorenzo (CDDF)’s 5-minute position statement and a 25-minute discussion session.

You will have the chance to learn more about the actual access to several recently registered cancer drugs in European countries following EMA marketing authorisation, and the implications for patients. The discussion will also give you the opportunity to learn about best practices related to general use of new drugs within Europe.

  • Quality of Life in cancer care: do we care enough?

    • Date: 24 November 2020
    • Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM (CEST)
    • Location: Online

In cancer care, quality of life is a very important dimension for patients. They have to live with cancer and must learn to manage its disease effects, treatment side effects, psychological stress-induced and other elements that strongly impact their quality of life.

Today, a comprehensive assessment and integration of quality of life into the cancer patient care pathway is still insufficient due to lack of time, money and awareness from several stakeholders. In addition, there is also the difficulty to define, measure and monitor quality of life.

On Tuesday, November 24, from 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM (CEST), the online event « Webinnov’ by Alcimed – Quality of Life in cancer care: do we care enough? » will be hosted on Zoom.

This webinar aims at gathering different stakeholders from the pharmaceutical industry, an international patients’ association and a post-mastectomy service provider for women. The spotlight will be put on patients and the speakers will discuss the way needs are tackled today and how they will be in the future. Moreover, Dr. Charis GIRVALAKI, EU Affairs Manager at ECPC will deliver an insightful presentation!
