  • The European Cancer Summit 2020 – Special Rates announced

    • Date: 18 and 19 November
    • Time: 9.00 - 18.15
    • Location: Brussels

The European Cancer Summit 2020 will be held in Brussels in person and virtually on 18 & 19 November. Pre-register here and select if you would prefer to attend in person in Brussels, or virtually, at the Special Rate for Patient Advocates available by 31 July.

Every year, the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) brings together leading oncology specialists, patient advocates, politicians and policy-makers to discuss the main issues impacting cancer policy, for the benefit of citizens, cancer patients and healthcare professionals across Europe.

Besides discussing the impact of COVID-19 on cancer, the Summit will include sessions on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan with Stella Kyriakides, the EU Cancer Mission with the EU Commissioner for Research and the EU Cancer Mission Board Chair, Vice-Chair and Patient Advocate.
The preliminary programme is available here.

    COVID-19 and Pre-Registration

ECCO is aware that it might be better to hold the Summit as a virtual or hybrid meeting, because of social distancing measures and concerns of a potential second wave of COVID infection. Therefore ECCO will contact everyone who has pre-registered in early September with an update and further details to complete registration for those confirmed to participate.

    Please Register Here.

  • Challenge Cancer EU Parliamentary Intergroup

    • Date: Wednesday 1 July 2020
    • Time: 16.30 - 19.00
    • Location: Webinar

We have the great honour to invite you to the launch of the European Parliament Challenge Cancer Intergroup, chaired by MEP Cristian Bușoi, and co-chaired by MEPs Alessandra Moretti, Aldo Patriciello, Frederique Ries, with the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) providing the Secretariat.

This first and only EU Parliamentary Intergroup on cancer will serve as a forum for MEPs from all political parties to engage in dialogue with patients, cancer survivors and carers, scientific and medical societies, research institutions, think tanks, medical practitioners and researchers, policy makers and leaders of the health industry, civil society at large, national governments and institutions. It will act as a two-way communication channel by holding hearings and debates and leading fact-finding missions on salient topics such as prevention, access to treatment, medicine shortages, cancer research on quality of life, innovation in cancer care, and survivorship.

The virtual launch event will bring together MEPs and high-level speakers, including Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides and the Chair of the Cancer Mission Board, Prof. Walter Ricciardi, to discuss cancer challenges in times of pandemics like COVID-19 and the role of policy makers and stakeholders, including patient organisations such as ECPC.

We would be happy to welcome you on Wednesday, 1 July from 16:30 to 19:00.
