On the 12th December ECPC Vice President Kathi Apostolidis published an article on the evolving role of patients advocates at medical congresses.

Quoting the example of patients’ growing involvement in the planing of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Congress, Ms Apostolidis demonstrated how the collaboration among patients and doctors can provide unique insight on cancer treatment. “Only patient advocates can present the reality of treatments and the need for translational research into medical conferences, as they have unique knowledge and expertise from living with a disease, living with a treatment or suffering because there isn’t one for them“, wrote Ms Apostolidis.
