ECPC President and Board Member of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences, Prof. Francesco de Lorenzo is among the Faculty of renown scientists, policy makers and politicians, who gather in the Casina Pio IV in the Vatican for the Conference Strategies to decrease inequalities in cancer therapeutics/care and prevention, organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the European Academy of Cancer Sciences on February 23-24, 2023.

The conference will explore strategies to address some of the important factors behind inequalities and to improve equal access to cancer treatment and care, diagnostics, and prevention.

On the first day of the conference, ECPC President, Prof. Francesco de Lorenzo, delivered a presentation on inequalities in access to cancer diagnostics, treatment, care and prevention in Europe. The program of the first day started with an overview of cancer inequalities and was followed by sessions on Innovative basic/ preclinical and technological research – the agenda for translational cancer research, Current situation and examples of national structuring of cancer activities in EU member states and beyond.

Today, the Conference will cover the role of innovation as the driver to reduce inequalities, and H.E. Archbishop Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations will conclude the Conference with a debate on decreasing inequalities in cancer treatment and care.
