The British people have voted to leave the European Union.

As we face more instability and uncertainty, the European Cancer Patient Coalition is more important than ever as a platform for co-operation between European cancer patient organisations, a strong and united coalition remains an essential pillar of stability in a changing region, and a key contributor to advocating to improved cancer care and treatment.

Our 78 British members are part of the European Cancer Patient Coalition today and will continue to be so in the future.

“I am privileged and proud to be the President of the European Cancer Patient Coalition. We remain committed to our British members. We will continue to work with all our members to fight for a Europe of equality, where all European cancer patients have access to the best cancer care available” says Francesco De Lorenzo, President of the European Cancer Patient Coalition.

“As Treasurer of the European Cancer Patient Coalition and a British citizen, I will work with the staff and board to find a solution that balances the changing status of the United Kingdom with the needs of British cancer patient organisations” says Andrew Winterbottom, Treasurer of the European Cancer Patient Coalition.

“We are closely monitoring this transition, in order to ensure that a strong and cohesive coalition continues. Once further details of the United Kingdom’s new relationship with the European Union emerge, we will review our Statute” says Lydia Makaroff, Director of the European Cancer Patient Coalition.

The European Cancer Patient Coalition is the largest European patients’ umbrella organization in the area of cancer diseases, and is based in Brussels. ECPC was set up in 2003, and works for a Europe of equality, where all European cancer patients have timely and affordable access to the best treatment and care available, throughout their life. ECPC works for the recognition of cancer patients and survivors as partners in their own healthcare and invites policy makers, researchers, doctors and industry to work all together in this direction.
