ECPC welcomes two new full members from Greece! Both are founding members of the Hellenic Cancer Federation, currently under registration procedure. They are active members in Northern Greece covering all cancer types and offering psycho-social support to patients, raising awareness and managing to achieve a lot with limited resources.
First we would like to introduce the Association of Parents, Children and adults with Cancer ‘Mazi sou’! ‘Mazi sou’ provides financial and psychological help to people affected by cancer as well as to their families and friends. They help patients find suitable doctors and pay for their transfer (if necessary) and their treatment. The organisation has psychologists working 24hrs per day, always there to provide support to those in need. It also provides information both to the general public and to the patients about all kinds of cancer through meetings on prevention and treatment options against this terrible disease.
More information can be found on their facebook page.
The second organisation to join us is the Lesvos Association Of Cancer Patients! The Lesvos Association was established 6 years ago in Mytilene, the capital of Lesvos island. Its goal is to provide psychological and social support to cancer patients and their families. The association is organising, in cooperation with doctors and medical staff, seminars and meetings, in order to keep the patients up to date with Greek and international policies regarding cancer, treatments and survivorship. Their message is “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.”
