The European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) is a membership non-profit umbrella organisation based in Brussels that represents the voice of people with cancer in Europe and beyond. With 450 members in 50 countries, its vision is for a Europe of equality, where all Europeans with cancer have timely and affordable access to the best treatment and care available. ECPC works towards this vision by influencing the European political agenda, empowering and educating its members, and increasing the role of patients in cancer research.

The Position

Our organization is seeking an experienced Nonprofit Membership and Partnerships Officer, with prior working experience in Belgium and already established in Brussels, with a valid employment visa, to initiate and manage the execution of various community engagement initiatives related to our membership, partners and other audiciences with which we are engaged and keep our social media accounts.

As a Nonprofit Membership and Partnerships Officer at ECPC, you will be building relationships with our members, raising brand awareness on social networks, and creating effective strategies for getting our organization’s activities and programs in front of our target audiences.

Your other responsibilities will include managing our membership, keeping databases with information on each audience group, developing partnerships with companies, subject matter experts, and influencers that support our organization’s mission and share our vision.

The ideal candidate is a talented, sociable and ambitious communications professional, a self-starter with a degree in Communications or Public Relations and experience using social media analytics tools to create the type of content our community members will respond to.

Tasks:

  • Support the development and lead the implementation of the Content Communication strategy for all social related topics aligned with ECPC”s  objectives
  • Update the content planning for all social topics and ensure timely production and delivery
  • Develop integrated 360° campaigns in collaboration with the respective cancer policy and research project officers
  • Translate complex content into storytelling and engaging content, adapt to each audience and channel
  • Create, edit and/or proofread all social related content, ensuring they respect ECPC’s brand, style guidelines and tone of voice
  • Create and ensure timely delivery of content for the ECPC monthly newsletter and monitor analytics for success and suggest improvements
  • Support the organisation with basic design requests. Lead and coordinate external partners for the creation of visuals such as icons, infographics, video etc.
  • Monitor competition and new trends arising in cause marketing communication
  • Work with the ECPC team to design, build and execute promotional campaigns that will raise awareness of our organization’s programs/activities/capacity building actions and tools
  • Establish regular personal contacts with all ECPC members, update regularly each organization’s data, reach out to new organizations and invite them to become members
  • Plan, coordinate and execute engagement and other events of the organization
  • Promote ECPC events and activities on social media to attract and engage both community members and volunteers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subject matter experts and professionals to promote our community engagement and programs, as well as disseminate advocacy and educational resources and relevant program information
  • Use analytic tools like Twitter Analytics, Facebook Insights, and Google Analytics to discover the type of content our audience engages with the most
  • Develop and implement community engagement communications, such as newsletters, membership updates, social media content, etc.
  • Respond to member/user inquiries, complaints, or issues in a timely, professional manner

  • Ability to understand and translate complex situations and issues into content that resonates with non-specialist audience, journalistic style, understanding of the traditional and online media’s world, taste for research and argumentation
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Partnerships Officer on the many ECPC partnerships, members, sponsors, partners, collaborators, media partners, etc. Keeping track of the different partnerships in a continuously updated database
  • Inform the D of developments in stakeholders the Sr Communications and Partnerships Manager
  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently, while creating a sense of community within each of our stakeholders

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, political science, or related field is required
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in the communications field in a similar job, traineeships and short interims do not count
  • Excellent use of written and oral English is mandatory, fluency in a second EU language is required
  • Expert use of Microsoft Office 365 Suite with emphasis on Power Point for presentations, Publisher or similar for creating documents e.g. brochures, invitations, programs, infographics, etc, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere…), MailChimp, Canva, Visme and social media platforms Facebook, twitter, Linked in, YouTube.
  • Experience in using Content Management Systems, ideally WordPress for updating the website
  • Understanding of EU health policy making processes and structure of the European Commission

Desirable

  • Previous experience in EU Funded Projects (H2020 / Horizon Europe / IHI / IMI / Erasmus +)
  • Previous experience in oncology or other health related field
  • Knowledge, understanding of cancer, of health systems operation, previous work experience in an NGO, health sector and in developing awareness campaigns strongly preferred

This is a full-time position (38 hours per week), remuneration according to Belgian legislation (CP337.000) and depending on the candidates’ profile and experience.
